| Breaking News |  | IL News: The Offseason Begins Monday, September 17th, 2012: The IL champions have been crowned, the last of the celebratory champagne sipped and now begins another offseason in baseball's cycle of life. For fans, the days drag by, with only news of hirings and firings breaking up the monotony. But for general managers, there's plenty of work to do. The offseason is when a top-notch GM really earns his money. It is their time to analyze the past season, to understand the strengths and weaknesses of their clubs and to make plans for the next season. Future champions will lay much of the groundwork for their success during the next few months.

If you want the AI to select the awards, simply ignore the option. |  | Charlotte Sweeps Round 2 Saturday, September 15th, 2012: The season came to a crashing halt for the Norfolk Tides when the Charlotte Knights beat them 4-3 today at Knights Stadium to sweep the Round 2 4-0.
Fans in Charlotte have already begun the celebration and officials are expecting huge numbers when the championship parade takes place in a few days.
"Unbelievable for us, for our fans," the elated Knights skipper said. "This team has worked as hard as any team ever. They deserve it. What these guys have done -- they're going to enjoy it for a long time."
This was the 1st championship for the Knights.
Asked after the game, what it's like to lose in the Round 2, Norfolk's manager replied, "You want the results to be different." Then he added, "They simply outplayed us, they deserve it. They beat us. They're the champions."
Charlotte finished the season with a record of 78-66 and ranked second in the South Division. |  | Will Unhappy Shoppach Be Traded?
